Truth be told, I find watching the debate to be unbearable to the point of physical nausea. The USA should have single-payer, universal health care coverage for all people, and the concept of "insurance" shouldn't even be part of the equation. Who "insures" one to use, say, the public library? No one, because there is only a collectively incurred cost and a universally accessible benefit. Librarians get their well-deserved pay, but no 3rd party is making a profit by "facilitating" the conditions under which library materials can be accessed.
In other words, we need socialized medicine.
From where I sit, this is such a clear moral imperative that I am disinclined to be broadminded or in any way tolerant of other points of view. Those in positions of power who work to obstruct meaningful change should be treated as we treat any other tyrants who commit crimes against humanity.
I have no patience for either side of the mock-aisle's fake concern, postured nuance or incremental, compromised pseudo-reforms. It's just another day of bad TV.
